Within the “Healthy Roots – Green Orchards” event series on safe, sustainable durian and coffee cultivation, VFC and Syngenta continued to organize a durian-focused event in Prong Pak district, Dak Lak province, with the objective of promptly sharing care and effective management solutions at the onset of the rainy season.

The event was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Tran Van Hau – Senior Lecturer and fruit tree specialist from Can Tho University; Mr. Le Van Thanh – representative of the Dak Lak Sub-Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection; and Mr. Nguyen Truong Hung – Head of Division of the Dak Lak Sub-Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection. Especially noteworthy was the participation of valued customers and more than 350 durian farmers from Prong Pak district and neighboring districts.

Through this event, VFC, Syngenta, scientists and farmers conducted a field visit and evaluation of grower Tran Quang Ta’s durian demonstration orchard, where the production protocol recommended by the two companies and the Dak Lak Sub-Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection has been applied.

Evaluation results showed very high effectiveness in controlling stem canker, gummosis and root rot caused by Phytophthora palmivora as well as root-knot nematodes when applying the Ridomil Gold 68WG and Tervigo 020SC solution package. The model was also highly appreciated by scientists and visiting farmers for its effective management of anthracnose and key insect pests using Revus Opti 440SC and Selecron 500EC.

Within the framework of the event, representatives from the Sub-Department, scientists and VFC speakers shared with farmers orientations, practical experience and solutions for pest and disease management, as well as knowledge on the effective and safe use of plant protection products in durian cultivation.
